One thousand years later and men still have it great. Will it ever be a human’s world? Exploring birth control is a complete nightmare and an expensive burden.

Many of us grown ups have no clue whatsoever when it comes to contraceptives. Here are the scenarios, you’ve gone through your period of celibacy and the time has come for you to enjoy without restrictions but you’re not ready to have children OR you’re there for a good time and not a long time but you definitely don’t want a child with someone you’re not entirely committed to. Trying to find the perfect option with the least side effects is hunger games really.
During my research, I read about so many horror stories from weight gain, acne, spotting mood swings etc. I concluded from the reviews that I read that indeed there’s no winning for a woman.  The burden as always is completely transferred to women to figure these things out on their own.

Talks surrounding contraceptives are kept so hush hush and you grow up without a clue what in the world you’re supposed to choose. I personally don’t think there’s a site I haven’t been to, trying to educate myself. I visited my gynecologist who explained this world to me but I still left her office utterly confused.  None of the options she availed to me were good enough to put my paranoia aside but at the same time, I didn’t want to have 12 kids in a go. So what’s a girl to do?

I certainly wish that I knew about this stuff much earlier in my life, and I wish more people talked about their struggles. If you’re facing a dilemma and have no clue what contraceptives to use for your body, I recommend highly that you seek out a gynecologist  and ask all the questions. Also talk to your close group of friends, there’s always one on the team who is in the know and can be of help to you as you discover this ‘uncharted’ territory for yourself. If you want to learn more check out this site.

I have always believed that our bodies should be preserved as naturally as possible and if you can find natural ways around this thing, I would personally recommend the natural route of pleasure.

  1. There’s this one time I heard ‘Jeannie Mai’ on the real daytime show honestly share about how her then husband and herself had really different views on having children as a family (wife did not want kids vs. husband really wanted a child). And yet they still used natural birth control for their marriage that lasted approximately10 years. My bet is when the time is ripe’ hunt down the Jeannie Mai for such exclusive intel….. because the woman’s struggle to live healthy can’t die down with all the excess pills/injections or hormone imbalances…

    1. 1. I am obsessed with ‘the real’ and Jeannie is fantastic.
      2. I watched that particular episode and I was thinking to myself, ‘Jeannie what is the recipe?’ because I too was amazed that she want on any contraceptive for 10 years. But it was very inspiring to know that the natural way is doable and I root for it. Women shouldn’t have to shoulder this burden all on their own.

  2. Throughly enjoyed reading this particular entry. I can SO relate- after having my first child 3 years ago and understanding right now isn’t the time to have another; it’s been so frustrating that till now woman are given these extreme options to simply take a hold of their lives. Man, completely not affected , whatsoever!! It’s mind boggling. My body has had to go through so much and continues to go through a lot for the sake of what???

    Anyway thanks for sharing this.

    1. For the sake of what? I legit ask myself this question all the time. At the end of the day we are the ones left to deal with all the effects, even with a supportive spouse etc, you’re the one with the affected body and there’s no fairness in that at all. Thanks Braddie for leaving a comment. 🙂
